1st One Health Conference of Antimicrobial Resistance Containment
The 1st One Health Conference of Antimicrobial Resistance Containment was held successfully in Hangzhou, China on November 2-4, 2023 on the occasion of the 8th International “One Health Day”.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an urgent global health problem and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared AMR as a top public health priority worldwide. AMR is more than just the issue in the healthcare system, which impacts the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment. It requires active participation and action on a wide range of fields, hence the concept of One Health is introduced. To promote the implementation of the “One Health” approach in AMR control, the 1st One Health Conference of Antimicrobial Resistance Containment was held. This conference gathered top interdisciplinary experts and scholars from China and abroad to share the research progress of AMR control, explore AMR coping strategies, and promote AMR control from a new perspective. Academician reports, keynote speeches, forum exchanges, super dialogue and panel discussion set up by the conference, covering the latest research results and application cases of One Health in various fields, gave the audience a fresh perspective and an opportunity to gain insight into one health.
Chairman Prof. Yonghong Xiao, from Zhejiang University, China hopes through this conference, One Health approach will recruit more experts in human, animal, environmental health, and other relevant disciplines and sectors to control AMR and One Health will be gaining recognition in the China as an effective way to fight AMR at the human-animal-environment interface.
The next Conference will be held in October, 2024.
